Graduation Exit Exams (ETS Proficiency Profile and Business Graduate Exam)
Graduation Exit Exams (ETS Proficiency Profile and Business Graduate Exam)

Completion of one or both Graduation Exit Exams are required in order to receive your diploma!

ETS Proficiency Profile (formerly known as MAPP)

Each graduating student is required by the Tennessee Board of Regents to take a test of general competency. The ETS Proficiency Profile is a test of college-level skills in reading, writing, critical thinking and mathematics designed to measure the academic skills developed through general education courses, rather than the subject knowledge specifically taught in those courses. This test does not affect one's graduating status; rather it is a measure of how well Roane State educates its students. Students are encouraged to do their best since Roane State's evaluation and future funding are based on student performance. Students are advised that failure to meet this graduation requirement will result in having the student's diploma held until this condition is met.

Business Graduate Exam (BGE)

All students seeking a Business Management Technology degree or a Contemporary Management degree must take the ETS Proficiency Profile AND the Business Graduate Exam prior to receiving a diploma. The BMT options include: Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Office Administration and General Business.

Approval to take the Business Graduate Exam will be granted by the Social Science, Business and Education Division. You must first file an Intent to Graduate and allow time for review and approval. Once you have been approved to take the BGE, it will appear in your Momentum account as an exam waiting to be taken. Please check your Momentum account prior to coming to the Testing Center to take the exam. The Testing Center cannot approve you for the BGE. If you have filed your Intent to Graduate and the BGE has not appeared on your Momentum after 3-4 weeks, please contact your advisor.

The BGE consists of 80 multiple choice questions covering the subject areas of: Introduction to Business, Accounting, Management & Supervision, and Computer Concepts. There is no study guide for this exam.

What To Bring To The Test

  • Photo ID must be presented to the testing proctor.
  • You must have your Roane State Student ID Number (R#) in order to test! You will not be allowed to test without your R#. To find your R# log in to your Raidernet account. Your R# is viewable on both your HOME tab or STUDENT tab. If you are unable to locate your R# on Raidernet, you can contact Records & Admissions and request the information.
