Veteran Wave

Veteran Wave

Honor your veteran with a U.S. flag displayed on one of seven Roane State Community College campuses.

2025 Flag Retirement Notice: Flags purchased in 2021 and 2022 will be retired at the end of the July 2025 display. If you wish to have your sponsored flag returned to you, please stop by the Physical Plant office on the Roane County Campus during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday) starting August 1, 2025. Use Entrance B and proceed to parking lot B-7 (Physical Plant Building). Flags not picked up by August 30, 2025, will be retired with honors by Roane State’s Veterans Services Office.

Flag Displays

New flag orders will be displayed for approximately four years*. Flags are scheduled to be displayed at the following times:

*Note: The timeline for flags in the rotation may vary depending on how well each flag weathers the elements.

How to Order New or Replacement Flags

Each package is $80 and may represent only one veteran.

*Note: The order window for Fall 2025 displays closes October 1, 2025.

Package includes one 3’x5’ Nylon United States flag and one dog tag to identify the veteran and sponsor. Roane State will be responsible for the setup and takedown of all flags along a designated stretch of road on each Roane State campus.

Flags may be displayed at one of the following campuses:

Flags will be stored at Roane State when not on display. At the end of four years, the flag can either be claimed by the family or retired with honors. Proper flag retirement will be handled by Roane State's Veterans Services Office and area volunteers.

Corporate sponsorship is also available.
