She was in Roane State's inaugural Middle College class, and now this 20-year-old is making a name for herself in the advertising world.
Madison Duncan won two coveted ADDY Awards - silver and bronze certificates - in the student category from the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
Duncan, who graduated from the University of Tennessee in December, is an intern at Second Mile Marketing in Knoxville.
She said her ADDY entries featured ad campaigns across all media venues for three businesses that don't currently do much advertising.
"It's an honor to be recognized among local professionals and mentors in the advertising business," Duncan said of her award.
She plans to attend graduate school in the fall and pursue a master's degree.
Duncan is the daughter of Teresa Duncan, vice president of workforce and community development at Roane State, and Jerry Duncan, an electrician at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge.
Roane State’s Middle College program allows high school students to take college classes in their junior and senior years and then graduate with their associate degrees and their diplomas.
Middle College graduates are then able to complete their bachelor’s degrees just two years after finishing high school.
