Winter Term is an extension of either fall or spring, so you cannot exceed 19 hours for either term without getting special permission.
Winter Term is accelerated. It is the same amount of work per class as a regular semester, but done in only 4 weeks. Taking more than 4 hours is not recommended.
Students are permitted to register for a maximum of four credit hours during Winter Term.
Students assigned to a success coach or to the Student Success Team should contact their coach or email success@roanestate.edu to submit a request to take more than 4 credits during Winter Term.
Students assigned to a faculty advisor or to the Advising Resource Center need to contact their advisor or Dr. Cody Miller, Interim Dean of Student Academic Services, to submit a request to take more than 4 credits during Winter Term.
You should check with your success coach or the One Stop (if you have a faculty advisor) for questions regarding using financial aid for Winter Term. Choosing either fall or spring could make a difference with financial aid.
If you plan to use a Winter Term course for admission points in a competitive admission program that has an early decision (January, February, March, April), you most likely want to select Winter Term (fall) so your grade will be calculated in those admissions points.
Winter Term (spring) courses will be posted at the end of spring and are not calculated for admission purposes in programs in which applications close prior to the end of spring. Please check with your success coach or assigned faculty advisor for clarification about this.
Except during designated Winter Term holidays when all offices are closed:
