The Roane State Community College EMS Programs (Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic) meet the educational standards required to sit for their national exam (NREMT).
The Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and approved by the State of Tennessee, Department of Health, Office of EMS.
The EMT and AEMT Programs are approved by the State of Tennessee, Department of Health, Office of EMS and there is no national accreditation currently for these programs.

* Explanation of Reciprocity: States identified with the Approval Through Reciprocity Process identified above require applicants to hold a current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification at the level of application and/or require an active licensure through the state in which they are transferred from. This process may require the completion of verification documents from the State licensure board and/or verification documents from the institution completing the initial education requirements.
EMS COMPACT: EMS Licensed personnel are also able to migrate per state during declared disasters under the EMS Compact (Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice). The EMS Compact is governed by Commissioners appointed to the Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice by member states. The Commission was established by Section 10 B.1 of the Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact (REPLICA) legislation. There are currently 23-member states.
