The Energy Technology and Environmental Business Association (ETEBA) has once again presented Roane State Foundation with a total of $9,444 to support student success this academic year.
The donation will be split nearly down the middle, with $4,500 to be used for student scholarships and the remaining $4,944 directed to the “Lab-in-a-Box” project.
Roane State Foundation awards approximately $500,000 in scholarships and student aid each year at the college’s ten campuses. ETEBA’s donation will support scholarships for Environmental Health Technology students, an associate degree program focused on public health and the environment.
“We are honored to support the great work of Roane State Foundation through this annual donation,” said Elizabeth Harm, ETEBA executive director. “These funds, raised by the members of ETEBA through our annual scholarship golf tournament and holiday party, will proudly support future members of the energy, technology, and environmental workforce.”
In addition to funding scholarships, the donation will support Lab-in-a-Box, the signature outreach effort of the Rural Communities STEM Initiative. Many rural school districts do not have the resources to provide students with robust, hands-on experiences in science classes. To address this need, Roane State created Lab-in-a-Box kits that provide materials and lesson plans to rural school districts across the area.
“Increased access to scholarships and improved tools in the classroom at all levels mean students can learn without barriers,” explained Scott Niermann, Roane State Foundation executive director. “We are so thankful for the partnership we have built with ETEBA and their investment in these priorities. This donation will make an incredible difference in the lives of students as they work to achieve their goals.”
The Energy Technology and Environmental Business Association (ETEBA) is a non-profit trade association representing over 200 small, large, and mid-sized companies and affiliate members that provide environmental, technology, energy, engineering, construction and related services to government and commercial clients.
