Roane State Community College

Roane State Community College offers a wide range of vocal and instrumental private lessons.

Lessons

• Voice (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass)
• Keyboard (Piano, Organ, etc.)
• Strings (Guitar, Bass, etc.)
• Woodwinds (Clarinet, flute, etc.)
• Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba etc.)
• Percussion (Drum Set, Orchestral, etc.)

Details

• Students may take lessons as music majors or non-majors.
• Students may take lessons as beginners or accomplished musicians.
• Students may take a half-hour lesson a week (one credit) or a one hour lesson a week (two credits).
• Non-majors usually sign up for “100” level classes. Music majors usually sign up for “200” level classes.
• Most lessons are offered on the Harriman campus but there are additional lessons in Oak Ridge (Guitar, Bass, Voice, Piano) Fentress (Voice), and Cumberland (Voice) Campuses.
• Enroll in lessons the same way you enroll in other classes.

Cost

• $37 per credit if your load is over 12 credits
• $171 per credit if your load is 12 credits or less

Music Fee

• $55 One credit lesson 
• $100 Two credit lesson

After You Have Enrolled in Lessons

If you have signed up for private lessons; piano, guitar, organ, voice, brass, woodwind, strings or percussion on any RSCC campus (MUS 170, 171, 180, 181, 182, 183, 190, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195, 196, 197, 198, 199, 260, 270, 271, 280, 281, 282, 283, 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299), please follow the instructions below:

1. Email your instructor below with the following information:
   • name and RSCC Student ID number
   • campus where you plan to take lessons
   • all telephone numbers where you can be reached
   • all email addresses where you can be reached
   • your previous teacher at RSCC, if any
   • number of credit hours you signed up for
2. Wait for your teacher to email or call you back to arrange a lesson day and time. Professor schedules are limited. You must arrange your schedule to match the days and times they offer, otherwise you may not be able to have lessons.
