All Roane State locations will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.
According to Federal Regulations to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, a student must maintain the following:
* Includes all hours from Roane State or any other college/university attended even if you did not receive financial aid for those courses.
Any student that does not meet the above criteria at the end of each spring semester has failed to meet SAP. Students will be notified through their RaiderNet e-mail and sent a letter to the permanent mailing address. No federal or state awards (including student loans) may be received during this time.
Want to appeal in person? We can help you through the appeal process.
If there were circumstances beyond your control OUTSIDE the classroom that caused failure to meet SAP, you may appeal.
Examples of circumstances beyond your control are:
To appeal, the student will complete the SAP Appeal form in RaiderNet, submit documentation that supports the outstanding circumstances that were experienced, and complete an Academic Plan with their faculty advisor for the term that the appeal is for.
If approved, you will be placed on a one semester probation. Your status will be reviewed in the following semester to determine if you are now in good standing. If not in good standing, you must be following required courses listed on your Academic Plan as developed with your faculty advisor. Students who have exceeded the maximum attempted hours will not return to good standing and MUST follow an approved Academic Plan for ONLY required RSCC courses. This will be reviewed each semester after you register.
Please be advised that if a student has been approved for a Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal (SAP) and does a total withdrawal, officially or unofficially, or earns a 0.00 term GPA, the appeal is voided and the student must REAPPEAL. Also the following guidelines will be in effect:
Our goal is to review appeals in a timely manner. An email response will be sent to your RaiderNet e-mail account.
