RSCC Policy PA-15-01; Reduction in Work Force

Roane State Community College
Policy Number: PA-15-01
Subject: Reduction in Work Force

In the event of a reduction in staffing, Roane State Community College will ensure that all employees are treated fairly and equitably. The following steps will be taken in the event of a reduction in work force at the institution:

RSCC will contact other TBR institutions to seek other employment opportunities for employees. If positions are available, employees may volunteer to interview at the other TBR institutions.

If positions are not available at the other institutions or further reductions are necessary, Roane State's management will identify departments that are impacted by the reduction. A department is defined here to mean the budget account in which staff positions are budgeted at the time of the reduction.

Employees in the affected departments will be notified of the necessary reductions.

If positions are available at other TBR institutions, employees within these departments will be given a second opportunity to interview and subsequently transfer to other institutions.

In the event that additional staff reductions are still necessary, Roane State's management will identify the employees within the affected department with the least seniority that will subsequently be affected by the reduction.
