William Estel Underwood passed away on August 4, 2023.
Estel Underwood was stepfather to current Roane State President Chris Whaley. Mr. Underwood was a long-time principal at Coalfield School, a pillar of the Coalfield community, and a strong supporter of Roane State.
Both Mr. Underwood and Ms. Sandy Underwood had a lifelong commitment to education. In their honor, a scholarship has been established.
