Charles P.B. “Scobey” Newman Jr. in uniform

Charles “Scobey” Newman Jr., was a dedicated Emergency Medical Service (EMS) hero who served the southeast Tennessee area for over 40 years. Starting his journey as an EMT in 1978, his passion for helping others led him to obtain his Paramedic license in 1981. Throughout his career, he served with just about all of the EMS agencies throughout East Tennessee and inspired thousands of medical professionals. His compassionate care and professionalism touched the lives of countless individuals. We have all worked with Scobey over the years on the truck, in the ER, or at LifeForce and benefitted from his wisdom, kindness, and humor. His influence as a leader, mentor, and friend rippled through the community, leaving a trail of inspired medical professionals in his wake. With every patient he cared for and every colleague he guided, Scobey's legacy of compassionate care and unwavering professionalism was etched into the hearts of those he touched.
