The chair of the Academic Misconduct Appeals committee will forward the form to the Vice President for Student Learning, the instructor, and the appropriate Division Dean.
The chair of the Academic Misconduct Appeals Committee will assemble the committee consisting of at least three individuals (including one student) within 15 business days. The chair is not a voting member of the committee. The student must receive at least seven (7) calendar days' notice of the date, time, and location of the hearing.
Any individual who has an interest in the incident, a conflict of interest, or a bias is not permitted to serve on the committee. If a conflict exists, the committee member will inform the chair who will consult the Vice President for Student Learning for an acceptable committee replacement.
The committee will convene and decide to uphold, lessen, or overturn the penalty. The chair will provide a written decision to the student, the faculty member, the Division Dean, and the Vice President for Student Learning. This notification will occur within 10 business days of the hearing.
If the committee upholds or lessens the academic discipline, the written decision will inform the student that they may appeal in writing to the president within five (5) business days. The president will make a decision within 10 business days. The president’s decision is final.
