RSCC Leadership Institute

Overview

For many years, Dr. Paul Goldberg led the Roane State effort in nurturing leadership among his colleagues and through the implementation of a leadership program to nurturing aspiring leaders and provide collaboration among colleagues at Roane State for intentional purpose and achieving the mission and vision of this community college. Upon his death, his legacy continued in cohorts gathering for professional learning, personal development, and service.

In 2022-23, an RSCC Leadership Institute was held that was similar to the Paul Goldberg Leadership Institute of years past. In this leadership cohort, 19 RSCC employees of diverse backgrounds and positions were part of this Institute. As RSCC has remained committed to the leadership development of the faculty, employees, and staff whose work centers on leading this organization to become a premier institution that transforms lives, strengthens the community and inspires individuals to excellence. In light of the pandemic and remote work, most community colleges and universities have experienced challenges to maintain a culture of excellence for their employees, to help them remain connected, informed, and purposeful in their work. As there are current leadership programs within our organization to nurture student leaders, there is an urgency to ensure that employees, despite their roles or position, sense their unique value to the long-term success of our organization. This project revitalizes the former Leadership Institute in a customized manner with a vision and mission for a sustainable future.

Vision

The Roane State Community College Leadership Institute envisions a future where individuals from all backgrounds are equipped with the leadership capacity to address complex challenges and create meaningful impact in their communities. Our graduates are recognized as ethical, inclusive, and visionary leaders who inspire others to act with purpose and integrity.
