We do not make this decision lightly. The Academic Festival has been a staple to our communities since 1977, first offered only locally in Roane County, then expanded to east Tennessee high schools in over 10 counties. It was then redesigned to include all academic arenas, not just the humanities and in the past couple of years, some events have evolved into digital competitions.
So as you can see, the festival has a long history of adapting to change, so during this second “off” year, Roane State will take this opportunity to redesign the 2023 Academic Festival. We will look at adding new competitions, revising or dropping some events, move some to digital and leave some as live events.
We will return in 2022 with a totally revised festival! Please do not hestitate to reach out to me if you have questions, concerns or any suggestions to make as we transition.
Best regards,

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE 2020 ACADEMIC FESTIVAL! In our 43 year history of hosting the festival, this year will undoubtable be one of our most memorable. Although we hope all of you are at home safe, we are disappointed to have canceled the live performances. The festival is one of Roane State's highlights and we missed seeing the talent coming through our doors this year. Hopefully next year's festival will return to what it has been in the past.
There will not be a Sweepstakes Award made this year; however, Roane State will still print award certificates and mail those to your school along with any awarded 1st place medallions. As we are not sure when we will be allowed to return to work, it is possible the certificates and results may not be mailed until May or later. Please accept our apologies.
