Management Program

Overview

Healthcare Management Emphasis

Faster. Flexible. Affordable.

The management program was designed with working adults in mind. You are busy, but a degree in business could help you change careers or earn a promotion. With Roane States management program, you can balance work and family while earning a college degree.

Faster

Courses can be completed in as few as five weeks. Students have three options.

Hybrid

Woman on computer

Meet twice in person with your instructor, and complete the rest of the course online from home.

Traditional

Instructor in classroom

Meet in person with an instructor once a week for five weeks and then attend a Saturday review session.

Video Conferencing

Girl in video class

Take a course through video teleconferencing at a nearby Roane State campus once a week for five weeks and then attend a Saturday review session.

Plus, students may be eligible to receive college credit for their work experience. Roane State faculty will review your background and grant credit if your experience applies to a particular course. For example, if youve worked in accounting for years, then you may be able to receive college credit in an accounting course.

Flexible

Roane State's management program offers fundamental business courses in management, human resources and accounting/finance. After finishing the core requirements, you can choose business courses that fit your needs and interests. Whatever courses you choose, you will have faculty who blend expertise with real-world business experience.

Many of the programs courses are offered at each of Roane States campuses, giving students the option to complete classes close to home.

Affordable

"With the accelerated management program, I was able to work a full-time job and get my associate degree quickly." - Graduate Tamra Oliver

Tuition at Roane State is about half of four-year colleges, and scholarships are available through the Roane State Foundation and other sources.

Credentialing Requirements

Because management covers such a broad range of interest areas, there is no single certification or license required after obtaining your Management degree to make you more qualified for the field.

However, some voluntary function-specific credentials that are recognized by industry include:

Work Settings

Managers are involved in planning, directing, and coordinating activities within an organization. Their work may involve skills in analyzing problems, making decisions, delegating assignments, training and supervising staff, budgeting and coordinating activities, and reinforcing a team environment. Graduates may be employed in various sectors including government, education, and/or private industry, all which require a wide range of demonstrated skills and accomplishments.

Managers work in a variety of work settings such as government agencies, health care facilities, higher education, insurance companies, manufacturing firms, nonprofit organizations, telecommunications, utilities, and wholesalers/retailers. Many also choose to open their own business.

Salary

Because the management program is so broad, one salary figure does not cover all the possibilities. Many working students choose this program because it will help them earn a promotion at their current place of employment. Students interested in starting their own businesses find that this program prepares them to become entrepreneurs, whose salaries vary widely. Whether students want to move into a management role, earn a promotion, or become their own boss, the management program is a great option because the classes provide valuable instruction while fitting into the schedules of busy working adults.
