1Prerequisites for CHEM 1110 requires 2 years of high school algebra with a score of 21 or above on the ACT MATH portion or successful completion of MATH 1000-Algebra Essentials.
Students not prepared for Calculus I should take MATH 1730 or MATH 1710 and 1720 from TN eCampus.
At UT Knoxville, Organic Chemistry I and either a course in Cell Biology with a lab or Genetics with a lab is required.
At UT Knoxville or MTSU, the mathematics course must be Calculus II.
AT UT Knoxville an additional writing intensive communication course is required. Students transferring to UT Knoxville must also complete a sequence of non-U.S. history (See UTK's website for a list of approved courses).
*History courses – students are advised to consult with his/her transfer institution to determine if a particular history course or sequence is required.
** Students are encouraged to complete Ethics as part of the humanities elective requirement.
*** Students who select the Biology TTP with the intention to concentrate in pre-med or other pre-health related fields at the university are strongly recommended to take Introduction to Psychology and Introduction to Sociology.
**** Students transferring to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville must take Calculus II. NOTE: Students transferring to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville will also have to meet the foreign language requirement, either prior to or when they attend UTK. This can be met prior to attending UTK, by completing 2000-level competency in a foreign language, by completing FREN 2020, GERM 2020 or SPAN 2020. NOTE: Students transferring to the University of Tennessee at Martin will also have to meet the foreign language requirement, either prior to or when they attend UTM. This can be met prior to attending UT, by completing 1000-level competency in a foreign language, by completing FREN 1020, GERM 1020 or SPAN 1020.
