News: ORNL Federal Credit Union renews support of Street Painting Festival with gold level donation

Four people hold a check for $2500.

September 29, 2023

A financial institution with a history of donating to worthy causes in the region stepped forward once again to support the Oak Ridge Street Painting Festival.

ORNL Federal Credit Union donated $2,500 to the event, which was held on September 23 at Roane State’s Oak Ridge Campus. The contribution placed ORNL Federal Credit Union in the prestigious "Gold” level of sponsorships for the annual celebration.

Donations to the event help fund scholarships which are administered by the nonprofit Roane State Foundation and awarded to deserving Roane State Community College students.

“We are proud to support Roane State and the students who will benefit from these scholarships,” said Colin Anderson, president and CEO of the credit union. “This event helps bring the community together and it’s always a pleasure to be part of the celebration.”

During the festival, artists equipped with a variety of chalk create artwork on sidewalk squares emphasizing different themes. This year, the festival’s theme was “Create Hope in the World.”

Impartial judges determined the festival winners and prizes were awarded to the top artists, including Kassidi Loos who received Best in Show, Tobi Hickman who was voted People’s Choice, and Mercy to Vivian who won best representation of the festival theme.

A full list of winners is available online at roanestate.edu/streetpainting.

ORNL Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is locally owned and operated by its members. It was founded in 1948. For more information, visit ornlfcu.com.
