Kirk Harris, Director
Welcome to Roane State Community College’s Health Sciences Center, Knox campus. The Knox campus is unique among all of Roane State’s campuses as we are a single purpose campus, specifically serving students in selected health science programs and extending Roane State’s service area to Blount and Knox counties.
Students at the Health Sciences Center have met very specific admission criteria in order to be selected for their chosen program. We do not offer any general education courses and our student services are focused primarily on the health science program students.
The staff at the Health Sciences Center are available to assist all students interested in or attending Roane State, including basic application, registration, fee payment, and financial aid processes. In many instances we serve as a referral center to make sure students are connected with the right department to address their needs.
Also in Knox County, Roane State's all new Knox Regional Health Science Eduation Center is now open for Spring 2026. This location is known as the Covenant Health Campus in honor of the largest donation in the history of the college. Back in 2023, Covenant Health gifted 10 acres of land along Sherill Boulevard to Roane State which made the project possible.
About Us
The Knox County Center for Health Sciences is located in the Cedar Bluff area in West Knoxville off I-40 at exit 378. Opened in 1998, this location now serves over 300 credit students in health sciences programs and over 600 noncredit, continuing healthcare education students annually. The Center provides state-of-the-art labs and modern classrooms for the students to develop their skills.
Completed in 2025, the 130,000-square-foot Knox Regional Health Science Education Center is located at 9575 Sherrill Boulevard, across from Parkwest Medical Center, and includes a large multi-purpose simulation center aimed at immersing students in real-world scenarios that elevate their training.
The facility is significantly expanding health science education programs at Roane State and TCAT Knoxville, helping address the critical shortage of healthcare workers in East Tennessee. Current Roane State programs to be housed in the new center include nursing, EMS, polysomnography, and respiratory therapy, with the college planning to add new programs soon.
