Materials and Chemistry Laboratory, Inc. (MCLinc) has sponsored the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge’s annual Street Painting Festival at the platinum level for 2023. This sponsorship of $5,000 marks the 22nd consecutive year that MCLinc has supported the festival, which celebrates local amateur and professional artists while donating profits to fund scholarships at Roane State Community College.

“We are proud to sponsor such a positive event that gives artists of all ages an opportunity to showcase their talent and provides funding for scholarships for Roane State students,” said Barry Stephenson, MCLinc President and CEO.

Stephenson, who also serves on the Board of Directors for the Roane State Foundation, pointed out that these scholarships are particularly important for adult students who are not eligible for other scholarships that are established for graduating high school seniors.

“This event also promotes local economic growth by helping Roane State students across an eight-county region further their education and, in turn, enter the workforce as skilled job candidates,” Stephenson added.

This year, the Street Painting Festival is being held at Roane State Community College’s Oak Ridge Campus on Saturday, September 23. Chalking begins at 8 a.m. ET with awards being presented at approximately 5 p.m. ET.

MCLinc is hopeful that the decision to contribute at the Platinum level will encourage other local businesses, individuals, and organizations to sponsor the event. Contributions can be made online at roanestate.edu/streetpainting or by mailing a check to the Roane State Foundation at 276 Patton Lane, Harriman, TN 37748. When mailing a check, be sure to include on the memo line that the contribution is for the Street Painting Festival.
